I finally got to see this movie. It is being released to DVD on Feb.12 and so I was expecting to see it then but the 'cheap' movie theatre here just got it this past weekend. It was $20 for three of us and that includes popcorn, licorice and drinks. Thinking that it was such a late release for this movie we showed up last minute to find the theatre packed with people. Luckily we were to meet some friends there and so they got all our seats for us. There wasn't an empty seat left by the time the previews started. I have never heard a theatre so quiet before. Everyone was engrossed in the movie, even Kiki. The cinematography was beautiful beyond words and teh movie was inspiring. My sweet honey bunch (Emile Hirsch who starred as Christopher McCandless) did an amazing job as did Sean Penn for his directing skills. I'd see this movie again and again. LOVED IT! After we got home we watched on youtube videos of others who have gone to the 'magic bus' in Alaska. Actual footage of the bus that Chris lived and died in. Some of his belongings are still in the bus (except for a few articles which were stolen and either sold on ebay or kept as a keepsake ) In a weird way I would like to go up there myself. You are so lucky, I have been dying to see it but it never played anywhere near me. Good to know it is coming out on DVD tomorrow, I will have to pick it up. And as you will see in another thread I am digging Emile too ;D

I'm thinking about renting this one night. It came out last week and you got my curiosity going.
That's not weird at all. This weekend we went to the cemetery because Jeremy wanted to visit his grandparents. We spend 2 hours hours there just looking around. I've never been to one and I loved it.

Before that you've never been to a cemetery? Have you been to a funeral? Cemeteries are a cool place to wander. Whenever I visit home I go see my stepbrother and am always surprised to see all the familliar names.

I almost feel like replying to this answer and in detail would be bad luck so I'm going to have to say no for both your questions. Knock on wood, throw salt over my shoulder, put my right shoe on first (hopefully nobody cuts it off and throws into a river...that my's sexy foot ), kiss the feather of a dying bird and all that other superstistious stuff.

I finally watched the first half of Into The Wild last night. I got tired and had to shut it off. I'm at the part where he's river rafting and just met up with the German couple.
It's alright, I'm having a hard time getting super into it though. I'll have to read the book though. ;D

It was an alright movie. The ending was good. As good as it can be when it's a sad ending. Is the book better?

The book is quite different. It almost isn't even comparable. The book is written by John Krakauer who is an adventurist himself so there are parts of the book where he talks about his Everest trip as well. Also some of the story is really a guessing game since Alexander Supertramp was on his own so much, they relied on his journals or notes he'd keep or people he'd encounter along the way.
I was really moved by the story though I don't understand his intentions really. I am a sucker for the comforts of home and hell if my parents wanted to shell out tons of cash for college and buy me a new car I'd say Hells ya.
