I saw this with the kiddos over the weekend. Firstly, we're all huge fans of the movie to begin with so any raving I do can be taken with a grain of salt. I thought the overall was really great, adding another dimension to the film was definitely a worthwhile undertaking though I'm not sure how it panned out for Disney dollarwise. We were the only ones in the theater on a Sat afternoon and I think it's only been out for a few weeks.
I didn't think the effects were the best I'd ever seen and I think it's likely because the film was shot without 3D effects in mind. I think adding the 3D was successful, particularly in ChristmasTown, but comapred to some of the ones they are doing now, with 3D as part of the project, it wasn't quite as impressive.
On the other hand, my oldest was born in '93 when the film came to the theaters, so seeing it on the big screen was a real treat for him and my daughter as well. I'm not sure how the 3D thing works on DVD but if it does work the same way I'll be buying the 3D version when it comes out just for the cool factor.

I'm probably going to get thrown into a dungeon and tortured for this BUT I have never ever ever seen Nightmare Before Christmas.
Ok, let the beating begin, I am so ready for it. ;D

I'm ASHAMED of you! You need to get that DVD in your hands right now. It's way beyond a kids movie... it's a social commentary and is so well done I can't stop watching it even after 14 years. Better yet, just see it in 3D before it's too late! By the way, the main voice talents are: Jack: Chris (Welcome to Fright Night!) Sarandon voice, Danny Elfman singing Sally: Catherine O'Hara (Home Alone, Beetlejuice, etc) Catherine O'Hara actually voices many of the characters and I realized for the first time how talented she is. Also, she was John Candy's buddy from the SCTV days. ALSO, Greg Proops (voice of Bob the Builder) is the voice of the Devil, Pee Wee is one of the bad kids as is Glenn Shaddix (interior designer guy from Beetlejuice as well as a billion other things) You'll love it.

No, no good. I still have no desire to watch it. You'll have to try harder. But you all know I'll think about it and probably go rent the damn thing anyway. BUT I never knew Greg Proops does Bob The Builder!! I loved him on "Whose Line Is It Anyway" And here I thought I already knew everything.
