www.crimelibrary.com/serial_killers/predators/olson/1.htmlMy family has a bit of history with this man. My mom's friend was murdered by him and my grandfather was a warden at one of the jails he was in. My grandfather said he's one of the craziest people you'll ever meet. Last year he was up for parole. Even though it was very unlikely he would get it, I think all of British Columbia were holding their breaths that day. My mom cried when he was denied, she was so relieved.

So close to home I guess and even more so for your family. I know what an impact Bernardo and Homolka had on Canada, let alone Ontario. It must be the same way for all the BC folks. They caught the monster and he is behind bars but for how long?

Olsen has his own MySpace page.... "The discovery that Canada's most notorious serial child-killer has a MySpace web page was met with outrage and disgust Tuesday night.
Clifford Olson, who terrorized the Lower Mainland in the early 1980s, is more than 25 years into a life sentence for killing 11 young boys and girls.
Trudy Court, whose sister was murdered by Olson, couldn't believe her eyes when she discovered Olson's web page while preparing for his next parole hearing." www.canada.com/topics/news/national/story.html?id=6986394a-cf40-4768-aa23-0ea5628045d4

I'm surprised that they are even allowed internet access. That's disgusting. Maybe now they will take it away from these dangerous offenders if people make a big stink about it. I can't believe that he is up for parole.

I swear he was just up for parole last year. He'll never get it but it's still scary thinking that he possibly could. He wants to be known as the biggest and baddest serial killer around. If anyone had half a brain they wouldn't be letting someone free who wants to be known for killing children. IMO inmates should have bread, water and a blanket. None of this internet crap and all the other luxuries.

Which one was your Mom's childhood friend again? I am reading a book about Olsen since I sheepishly don't know much about this case.

Awww crap....what's her name? I totally forget. I will look up the names, once I see it I will remember it. It was kinda a different name I think.
What book are you reading? Mom and I are always looking for Olsen books and have only been able to find one.

the book is called 'Where Shadows Linger'. It is cowritten by the RCMP who investigated the case. It is not the best book as it says right in it that they won't describe the crimesites...BOOOH! I want crimesite descriptions. Anyways I don't know much about the murders or Olsen himself so I am learning, maybe I will hunt down better story version when I am done his one. I haven't gotten to Sandra yet....

That's the one I've read. I didn't find it to be too good either. From what I can remember they barely mention Sandra. In the beginning of the book (maybe no more than a chapter or two in) it's written about how he is driving with a girl he picked up and passes a golf course called Tall Timbers....that's 2 minutes away from my house. LOL...it was more interesting when I read it...I was like "hey I drive past there everyday." ok, never mind. hahaha ;D

Is he in prison out your way? I know with the Bernardo thing being so close to homeeveryone here is on edge when the news brings up Bernardo, it must be the same way there with Olsen.
