I will not fall victim to a cute little furry thing. I don't have the attention span anyway.

I'm gonna watch it. I have it set to remind me on Friday when it's on. I will not fall under the meerkat's spell. I like to watch Girls Next Door. Those girls are so stupid sometimes, they make me laugh. ;D

I have seen that show on the guide but I have never watched it. Is it a reality series?

yeah it is. It's about Hugh Hefner's girlfriends at the Playboy Mansion. There's so much nudity in it though so if you don't like that kind of stuff don't bother. I watch it weekly.

I don't think that the nudity would bother me, but the idiotic girls who set women's lib. back 150 years might. I am a feminist, not the hairy armpits, burn your bra kind, but the give us respect kind. What man would have that many girlfriends? A man who has money. What kind of woman would date a guy with that many other girlfriends? A woman who has no self respect, no respect for women, and only wants his money. BLAHHHH!
Those women make me want to scream sometimes. Maybe I better not watch it! ;D

[glow=blue,2,300]Well Holly, I'm a fair person, and since you're so wonderfully open-minded about giving the meerkats a chance, I watched Girls Next Door last night. I laughed at some, and winced at some, but overall, again, it seems like harmless fluff. Just as I respect women who strive to succeed on their intellectual merit, I respect women who market their beauty. If it's an asset, why not? The female form, as well as the male form, is beautiful anyway. Many models -- and actresses -- are certainly not just mannequins. And many of those same people donate large amounts of money to good causes and help bring publicity to them, such as Cindy Crawford's work with childhood leukemia. From Wiki:[/glow] Crawford graduated from DeKalb High School as valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA. She won an academic scholarship to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University, which she attended for only one quarter. She dropped out in order to pursue a full-time modeling career. [glow=blue,2,300]Angelina Jolie donates a full third of *all* of her income to various charities, which equates to multi-millions every year. Michael J. Fox has brought renewed hope and vigorous funding to reasearch of Parkinsons, which he has. Jodie Foster graduated magna cum laude at Yale. Yes, more needs to be done in the field of women's rights and women's health and especially the matter of equal pay for equal work. But if a woman chooses to exploit her looks for financial gain -- even if it's for pornography -- I believe a woman should be free to make that choice without condemnation or judgment. Do such women hurt the cause of Women's Rights, or liberation? I don't know. I know a couple of exotic dancers, both of whom used their pay to support young children and put themselves through school. Others do it purely to find "Sugar Daddies" and sadder still, some support drug habits, but you're going to find those same two qualities in some women in every walk of life. There's a show on HBO called "Cathouse" which is about a legal brothel in Nevada called The Bunny Ranch. This show is fascinating to me even though I blush at the sexually graphic parts (which are few). But having watched it for a while now, I can say these women truly enjoy what they do, both for themselves and for the service they provide to others. Some of these same women have very high college degrees, but openly admit prostitution makes them happier. In fact if you think about it, legalized prostitution everywhere would lead to a vast life-improvement for women across this country who put their lives at risk to do it illegally, and often fall prey to street pimps, to say nothing of the physical and health dangers -- problems that the Bunny Ranch gals don't have to worry about. The "world's oldest profession" is never going to go away; legalizing prostitution would be a positive movement for people who are going to be involved in it either way. Would that not be a positive move for women, who represent the majority of prostitutes? Now personally, I would shit and go blind if I found out a man I was in a relationship with went to a hooker. And I once dragged an ex out of a nude bar, not because he was looking at nude women, but because he lied to me about what he was doing, and lying to psychics is not a good idea. Are shows like "The Girls Next Door" harming the status of women's liberation? Is Hugh Hefner doing such? I dress provacatively on occasion, but like donning perfume, it is something I do for myself. Has the Women's Liberation Movement helped women so far? Yes. Has it reached it's goals? No, we're still striving hard for things like equal pay. But then, not everything in life is fair for men either. I've a long list of male friends who got grossly taken advantage of in divorce battles, and can barely make out a living afterwards. Where child custody comes into play, in some of those situations the children would be better off with the father, but courts don't always see it that way. I see both Holly's point and Angie's; I hope this is not taken as rambling, just merely pointing out that the topic can be so much more complicated than 'black and white,' or clearly distinguished areas .. thanks for reading[/glow]

IMO Hefner is just as bed. I didn't mean that the girlfriends alone are hurting women's lib. Guess I am old fashioned in that way. Why do you think these women are with Hugh? Are they in love with him?
Also I am no prude either. I have done some wild things, dressed in far less than I likely should have. I guess cause I was raised in a family with 3 older sisters and a strong Mother, I was always taught to have dignity and that women shouldn't have to use their bodies/looks to entertain men or appease them. To each their own I guess. I personally could never be one of several girlfriends. Plus if he had me, he couldn't handle more than just me anyways. ha ha ha ;D

[glow=teal,2,300]I carefully watched the body language of the girl who's supposed to be Hugh's girlfriend. His body language toward her was loving and totally respectable. Her body language toward him was that she couldn't care less; it's obvious she's using him for publicity and self-promotion. There was no question in my mind on that. But if these are two consenting adults who are agreeing to those terms -- Hugh's not a dummy, he's a very savvy man -- is it wrong? Where's the victim? I do see your side though. If I ever posed even SEMI-nude, my Mom, who tried very hard to push me into modeling, would have beat my ass for days. It's called having a certain type of class, Angie, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with your (and your Mom's!) take on it. I just don't look down on women who make that choice or exploit their bods. Not all women are graced with your class nor intelligence, Angie. Don't hold it against them Some people have no choice in life but to get by the best way they can. And those who choose beauty know that any day can be the day they wake up and find out they're not on the menu anymore. Food for thought, if you'll forgive the pun![/glow]

Anyone watching 'The Next Great American Band'? You catch Meerkat Manor yet Holls? I've never heard on Great American Band. Is it any good? I watched the beginning of the Meerkats. I didn't watch the whole thing. I don't think it's my thing. Plus the poor pregnant meerkat had to stay the night alone and cold ( I have no idea what she did to get booted from the family) but I was already rootin' for her. Mean meerkats! ;D I shut it off shortly after that.

It was on on Friday night. It is like American Idol only it is for bands. It was quite good. There was a band with 12 and 13 year old in it that kicked ass. They were a metal band and they all have long hair. It was quite good.
