[glow=blue,2,300]I don't know if this 'being' classifies as a 'cryptid' by strictest definition, but I find the 'creature' 'Mothman' to be very fascinating for several reasons.
Ever since I saw the incredible injustice that was the remake of the "Amityville Horror," I now tend to pour out a few gallows of salt whenever a movie proposes to be 'based on actual events,' but the movie "The Mothman Prophecies" is, at very least, an interesting starting-point about the topic of Mothman. However, if you delve father into the actual stories and reports, it's far more scary/creepy than what is depicted in the movie.
The sheer number of residents of the Mount Pleasant area who reported events and/or contacts with the "Mothman" assures me that there's no question there were multiple witnesses to this creature. There are also reports of such a creature appearing in other countries, most notably a similar report that Sherb posted once that made the topic even more thought-provoking. I'll post links if anyone's interested.[/glow]

Again, a case I've done exhaustive research on and can't distill into a post or two. We should take this one apart account by account or something like that. John Keel's book is a fascinating read and the witness accounts of the 'creature' as well as their accounts of mysterious folks identifying themselves as government agents is all just too much for this to be a figment of someone's imagination. I think Mothman should have a forum of its own.

[glow=blue,2,300]BTW, do any of you recall seeing the post that Sherb posted months ago, about a similar creature that was sighted by many in (I think) England? It pegged out the 'spook-o-meter,' lemme tell ya! I'll see if I can dig it up if anyone's interested ..[/glow]

Have I asked what the heck Paranormal State is before? Is it on a special channel or something?
I'll have to watch those tomorrow. I don't know much about the Mothman.

Have I asked what the heck Paranormal State is before? Is it on a special channel or something? I'll have to watch those tomorrow. I don't know much about the Mothman. Paranormal state is a show that is on A&E on Monday nights. It is a group of Penn state University students who research the paranormal. I don't know what to think of their shows yet. Some of them are stupid like the haunted piano one but this Mothman episode was cool. Lorraine Warren is sometimes on the show. Mothman is awesome. Have you watched the movie? I got into it after seeing it at the theatre a few years ago then I researched it on the internet and realized just how many sightings there have been about the mothman all over the world and some of them have been just before tragic events like 9-11. I hope that you have watched it I have thsi renewed interest in this story now and need someone to discuss it with.
