The Starchild skull was found in the 1930's in South America in a cave. The skeleton was found buried with another skeleton of definite human descent. DNA testing shows that the two skeletons are approximately 900 years old and were not biologically related. Eleven medical experts have examined the skull including a craniofacial plastic surgeon, opthamologists, a pediatric neuroradiologist, etc. All have said that the skull is real and not hoaxed and is not indicitive of normal human deformity.
Is it a deformity? Below is some evidence that indicate that it's not:
- Uniform thickness approximately 1/2 as thick as a human skull
- Light weight with greater bone density and strength
- No knot at the base of the skull (ALL humans have this without exception)
- No sinuses
- Symmetrical as opposed to non symmetrical deformity which is the norm.
- Not relative to any other human deformity in history
- DNA tests show human and non human results
- Fibers integral to bone
The website devoted to the research of this skull is Lloyd Pye's site, The Starchild Project. Therein are downloadable movies, pictures, evidence, DNA, history and all things relative to Lloyd's research.
Possibly related aside:
Other odd skulls have been found over the years, mostly in Peru and in close proximity to Nazca (which is fodder for another topic altogether). These skulls are likely the product of a practice called headbinding where an infant's skull is bound into adulthood to produce the effect shown here. The question is WHY?
Some examples of Nazca skulls:
You can read about how, when and where these were discovered/recovered at this site.
Something that i find exceedingly odd (or maybe it's not) is that the ancient Egyptian cultures often depicted humans of royalty or distinction with an elongated skull structure.
Look at this picture of a bust of Queen Nefertiti:
Something that has always caused me to question history is the fact that there are pyramids in South America and pyramids in Egypt. Our history books place construction at around 5000 bc for all. If this is true then there was no land bridge between continents (think Pangea). Why would two seperate cultures both build pyramids at the same time? Why do they show such similarity in beliefs (again, another subject entirely).
If skullbinding is responsible for the above deformities, why did they do it? Were they trying to mimic something they had seen? Both sets of people?
I could go on all day about ancient peoples/archaelogy (minor in social anthropology, this stuff oils my cogs _laugh ).
What of the strange Abydos Glyph? The 'experts' call this an ancient 'typo', the result of carving new glyphs over old in an imprecise manner. They would have you believe that a culture that they say built pryramids to standards that we cannot match today (you can't fit a quarter between any of the blocks in any of the pyramids because the carving is so accurate) would screw up a glyph of one their kings? I'm not so sure but the naysayers are out there. Meantime, take a look:
There are HUGE unanswered mysteries out there, folks. I'm going to fill this forum with some of the ones I know about and I discover weird and shocking stuff every day.
