Death Omens can be almost anything. They can be a sign of nature...such as a cloud formation. They can be signs that occur naturally like the way wax drips from a candle or they can even be accidental signs, like someone tipping a chair over back wards.
Death is often foretold by the appearance of a certain animal. Black birds and night birds are often though of as death birds. Ravens, crows and owls are widely regarded as death omens when they appear in a village suddenly or lurk around a certain house.
The howling of a dog, which in mythology is the guardian of the underworld is believed to predict the death of someone nearby. In England, if the first lamb born to a farmer is black in colour, a family death will occur within that year.
Death omens also include supernatural apparitions such as a Banshee. Another common omen is the phantom death coach drawn my black horses and driven by a headless man. The coach will stop at a house where someone will soon die.
Luminous lights such as "corpse lights" are blueish coloured lights seen flickering in the night usually before someone will soon pass away.

Another one that I believe in is the three knocks. Soem say that if you hear three knocks at night that someone will die.
