Now this one I've been reading about for years. I even ordered the pamphlets from Leedskalnin a few years ago though I have yet to make sense of them.
A few things really fascinate me about this case. Read about the door, its weight, how its hinged and how it moves. I'd love to try it sometime. Also, Ed built an alternating current generator that needs no power but the magnets its built with. It runs when started until its manually stopped... no external power or fuel needed.
I think Ed had some brilliant ideas about molecular structure and what an 'atom' really is. The Castle pales in comparison to what else this guy was doing. Does make you wonder if he did know the secrets of moving huge monoliths that the egyptians might have utilized as he says.

Interesting. I've never heard of this place. Hard to imagine a 100lb man building all that alone.

He built it twice! The first area he had settled in became too populated for his taste so he moved, castle and all, to the new location. That's one of the great mysteries of this story. No one helped him, he had no vehicle yet he was able to move the castle, presumably stone by stone to a new location. Also, I found an article that talks about how Ed L would sometimes order blocks of stone. When the delivery trucks would come Ed L would ask the driver to leave while he unloaded the blocks. The drivers said there appeared to be no mechanical assistance (forklift etc) available, yet the blocks were always unloaded and removed from the area. Wonder where the drivers went ? Interesting story though, there are a lot of them about Coral Castle.
