Area 51 / Hangar 18 / Roswell

The Roswell UFO Incident involved the recovery of materials near Roswell, New Mexico, USA, in July 1947, which has since become the subject of intense speculation, rumor, questioning and research. There are widely divergent views on what actually happened and passionate debate about what evidence can be believed. The United States military maintains that what was recovered was a top-secret research balloon that had crashed. However, many UFO proponents believe the wreckage was of a crashed alien craft and that the military covered up the craft's recovery. The incident has turned into a widely-recognized and referenced pop culture phenomenon, and for some, Roswell is synonymous with UFO and likely ranks as the most famous alleged UFO incident.

The story on this one is pretty established. On the one hand, the Govt adamantly states that the whole thing is/was attributable to weather balloons and that was the official story from day one. However, later on in the game people (Frank Kaufmann in particular) who claimed to be witnesses and who were on base that night say they saw human like entities in body bags and some wreckage. This evolved into alien beings and the story you hear about today.

So much was made of the alien bodies that the Govt decided to publish a report in 1997 called Roswell, Case Closed. CNN did a story on it highlighting to the public that what was really seen were mannequins and that they were testing high altitude parachute drops, Top Secret at the time. Okay, so they lied about weather balloons yet many believe this to be the accurate account, including some govt officials.

I believe something very big happened there. I believe we (US Govt) have been able to reverse engineer some of what was recovered and that led to a huge tech boom.

I will keep adding to this as it's way too big to cover in a post.

To start, for those who are unfamiliar with the details of the case, I'd listen to what two nuclear psysicists (yes, real rocket scientists) have to say about it all.

[glow=green,2,300]Not at all. I've been following Dr. Friedman's work for decades now. He's been a diligent watchdog in keeping pressure on the government to release the data on the Roswell incident. They'd tell him he could have a certain report, then they would black out over 90% of *all* the information in it. Out of one seventeen page report, his assistants actually counted, word for word, how many words were visible in the report -- and it amounted to approximately 96% of it being blacked out in huge blocks . He held it up to the camera briefly and all you could see was pages of paper with very large black boxes on them, page after page of nothing.

So much for the Freedom of Information Act.

While there is said to be such a thing as mass hysteria, there are many aspects of this case that suggest the hundreds of people who have come forward to give witness accounts associated with it are so diverse. One of the specials I saw on Roswell several years about stated that there are now over 300 people who have come forward to talk about Roswell and whatever part they or a relative or a friend took in it or what they witnessed.

I make every opportunity to hear Bob Lazar whenever I can, and he has yet to have struck me as non-credible person. His qualifications prior to his connection to "Area 51" speak loudly for themselves. I found our government's arguments in dismissing his testimony to be flimsy and suspect.

Part of me even wonders if Bob Lazar is allowed to talk because the government is observing reactions to him in order to gage how the public receives his information. Reverse engineering has been a priority of this country since probably before the formal signing of the Declaration of Independence. Could this be a way of testing the populace who may have to deal with even more extraordinary news, ideas, or even events, of the future? Food for thought.[/glow]

Haha, that guy laid the smack down on Bill Nye at 3:01. I'm going to have to read up more on Area 51. I should know more about it than I really do.
