Well, what do you think?

I don't agree with it for a number of reasons.
How does killing someone justify for their evil actions. They're just killing someone in return.
I'd rather see someone sit in jail for the rest of their lives and have to live with what they have done than be put to death. No fun in that if they get a free ticket out IMO.

I believe in the death penalty for special circumstances. Those that have been linked by DNA and have admitted to their crimes and have a great risk of reoffending to me would qualify. Paul Bernardo and Karla Holmoka are two that I would like to see fry. I knwo it sounds harsh but some of these criminals I feel we are wasting money and resources when they don't deserve any kind of life.

IMO Karla Holmoka shouldn't of been released. 12 years was not enough time. (it was 12 wasn't it?) AND her having a baby is just plain wrong.

I agree 100% Holly. Did you ever read the books about them? A couple of them (by the same author) used the actual videotapes to write the books. So there is no he said/she said just straight from the horses mouth. The torture that these poor children endured was horrendous and unimaginable. I couldn't have survived as long as they had. Neither one of these vile human beings deserves to live. In fact I would inject either one of them myself and I can't say that about many of the other killers out there.

You should make a new thread. We could really get into this one.
I've read one book, let me go check what it's called.................................................Lethal Marriage by Nick Pron.

That one is pretty tame in comparison to this one: Invisible darkness by Stephen Williams.
This one contains transcripts from the video tapes.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that one.

Well I disagree and agree with it...I disagree because since when do two wrongs make a right? But then I agree because, for some of these clowns life in prison isn't so bad. And why should my tax dollars go to supporting them and their medical care?
I do think that the dealth penalty should be an option for pedophiles. But then again, I wouldn't mind seeing vigilante justice taking care of that.

I'm all for the death penalty. If they saw fit to murder someone, then they don't deserve to live. Unless it was self defense. I don't think we (I) should pay for these people to sit in a cell for the rest of their lives where they've got cable TV (among other things) and I don't because I can't afford it. I have to pay for my college tuition; they get education for free. If you're going to jail, then it shouldn't be a vacation with everything handed to you. Your family should support you (that means even providing meals) and not the tax payers. If I have to support them, kill 'em. I can't afford it. I've got my own opinion on the method of the death penalty - they should die they way their victims did. None of this going to sleep business. I know, there's an endless argument for "cruel and unusual" punishment, but isn't murder and torture cruel and unusual? Then why should we worry what the killer is going to feel? Then there's my other solution to the death penalty for those who oppose it - use those convicted killers in medical testing instead of animals. Rather provocative solution, I know, but it makes better sense than using innocent animals.

[glow=green,2,300]Although I voted 'undecided' -- I grapple with this one a lot -- I have to agree wholeheartedly with MG. There is no question in my mind that the video evidence spoke for itself, and that woman should get nothing less than life imprisonment. She murdered her baby sister while trying to keep her drugged so her lover could steal the poor girl's virginity. Dear God.
And now you're telling me that this beast has spawned? God help THAT child ..[/glow]

In the book the girl drugs her sister so her husband can rape her and the sister dies, then the couple goes on this kidnap and rape spree. Pretty freakin' sick. I hate to think that's even true.

We'll get MG to make a thread about this. She knows alot more about the case than I do. Would you do that MG for us, pretty please?

I disagree with the death penalty. Not completely though. There are horrific cases where I think the death penalty should be implemented BUT.... Until the justice system becomes infallible (which we know will NEVER happen), the death penalty should NOT exist. There have too many cases as of late (NOT RJD's) where innocent people have been convicted. Many of them on death row. Some have been executed. This is just as wrong as those who have murdered. Just my two cents!!!

I have to agree with Holly & dnddad324.
First and foremost because I believe putting the criminals to death is too easy. Let them spend everday of the rest of their life in a cell thinking of what they did. But as other's have pointed out I don't believe they should get any perks either. No TV, no visitors, etc...
Then as dnddad324 said sadly the system is not perfect and until it is how can it be justified when innocent people have been executed for crimes they did not commit? Do we say, "well that's just the price that has to be paid in order to get it right most of the time?"
