I've got Shutter Island....just haven't cracked it open yet. I was thinking of buying the new King the other day. It's worth it huh?

I may order Shutter Island if you tell me it's any good. The new king book 'full dark, no stars' is awesome and so is 'under the dome'. I really wasn't crazy about any of his recent stuff before that. It was like he lost his buzz about what is creepy but these last two books are really worth the read.

It was like he lost his buzz about what is creepy but these last two books are really worth the read. I bought the new King book today. After I'm done the Casey Anthony one I will read it. Which story out of the five was your favorite? I've been wanting to read "Under The Dome" for sometime now. I remember you telling me how good it was. You can get it in softcover now too which is a bonus. Hardcover just seemed to big and bulky for me, especially since I tend to drag my books around with me. Maybe I'll pick that one up next time I see it. I like to keep my books when I'm done reading them. It's just one of those things. I love to get them from the library but I love to keep them more. I usually always re-read them and I like the way they look on my bookshelf. Weird? Everyone I know either sells them or trades them in. I like to keep them.

I keep mine too! Infact in the new house there is a beautiful sitting room off of the master bedroom with piano windows and I want to install wall to wall bookshelves to put all of my most favourites. I still have some books from when I was Kiki's age (High Hopes, Diary of Anne Frank and The Outsiders + more).
Too bad we didn't live closer we could trade just to read them and then give them back. I hate it when my sisters borrow my books and then I never get them back.
Kris is snoozing in our room right now but I will look when he wakes up as to what story from Stephen KIngs book was my favourite. I hope that they make a movie from Under the Dome _ I think it would be great.

So for the short stories my favourite was 'big Driver' and I also like 'a good marriage'. All the stories have their own little charm but those two are tops for me. I am anxious to hear what you think of the book.

Oh wow, I think I read that one as a teenager. I can't remember it at all though. Something about a disease that kills off the world or am I totally way off?

Yes! that's it. It's like a flu virus that kills off most of the worlds population except for a small group that is immune. The Dome reminds me abit of this book.

I'm reading Saving Grace It's about a woman who tries to kill a pregnant woman in order to steal her baby. Click here for a linkThe story is interesting but the book itself kinda sucks. I'm skipping through a lot of it.

I'm skipping through a lot of it. That Mom reminds me of you in saving Grace. I am sure I wrote about it here in this thread a few years back. I saw her on Oprah too last year. I just bought 'Stolen Life' by Jaycee Dugard. I am sure you have heard of her before. I also bought 'Playing with Fire' by Theo Fleury. He is the NHL player who was molested by Graham James the famous hockey coach in his teen years. Good cottage reads. Although I always read a Tori Spelling book - this year there isn't one. I bought Kris 'Be Ready when The shit goes down - a survival guide to the apocalypse' by Forrest Griffen. It looks hilarious. I know I will be reading that one too!

Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard was really good! Kiki is actually reading it now - she may never walk anywhere alone again after this book. I think you would like it.

I'm reading "Dreadful Tales" by Richard Laymon (thank you so very much Swampy for letting me know about this guy!!!) I actually bought it online Ang with that card you gave me for my birthday. I forgot to tell you I bought 2 books and a phone case. BUt anyways the book is awesome. It's 25 short 'dreadful' tales. Very quick reads and I am about halfway through it and loving it. Some of the stories are so-so but most of them are good fun. I've read a couple of them elsewhere though and I can't figure out where.....
