I exalted you in return This is a challenge from a friend who says ghosts are not mentioned/implied in the bible. I say they are so I'm researching and writing it up. Couldn't be a "uhhuh go look it up post" cause I gotta prove it I've found at least five references to Jesus speaking of the spirit realm, one non Jesus related ghost event (Saul and Solomon) and a few references from Jesus where he says things like touch me to see that I am not a spirit but of flesh and bone. Well, the bible scholars say this just means that he's saying he's not a ghost but to me he's also confirming that ghosts exist since he's saying he isn't one. Anyways, when I finish it I'll post it up with scripture references and what i see as evidence.

I don't know if Jesus was confirming that spirits exist with that statment so much as he was telling them "I am real. I am flesh and bone, not your imagination."

[glow=blue,2,300]The Holy Spirit Itself is referred to also as the Holy Ghost.
Angels are neither spirit nor ghost; in fact their appearance is so terrifying that they most often change it to assume a human form or a human spirit (and remember, I'm speaking of angels as a class, this does not refer specifically to satanic angels) so as not to scare the living poo-poo of those they're delivering messages to.
In at least one situation someone asks the angel, 'are you spirit?' .. so cross-reference angelic visits/announcements .. it may gain you a few mentions ..[/glow]

The Holy Spirit is God, though. So I don't know if you could count the Holy Spirit/Ghost in with what we term ghosts and spirits. Know what I mean?

[glow=blue,2,300]Yes, I agree with your point. So, excluding God Himself, I do believe there are spirits or ghosts in the Bible. It might be interesting to break this down scripture-by-scripture to see if there is a possibility or suggestion that the appartition may have been angelic ..[/glow]
