The weather is gorgeous here! I've been doing yard work everyday to clean up the havoc that winter caused. Our one huge lilac tree in the back split in half when we had a storm a few months back and so I have been burning the remnants in our fire pit little by little.
On a bad note, with nice weather comes all the stupid birds, one which insists on maing nests in our covered in back patio up in the rafters. I wouldn't mind it if it just made a nest and that was it but instead it makes these huge messes with all of itr's mud and grass and shits on everything. Also when we come out to play the bird goes bonkers and squawks. I knock down and destroy it's nests everyday. You think it wouyld find a new place??? Today I chased it around the yard with a shovel screaming profanities at it. The neighbours must think I'm insane. Any ideas on how to keep the birds from nesting there???

I am picturing that right now and it's funny!!! I would google it. I am sure there is something you could do. You could always buy one of those big owls that hoot everytime something goes near it. Shove it up there and scare the crap out of the birdies. Pellet gun might work too.

Cats are worse than squirrels! I forgot about those owls, ya, I might pick up one of those. I went back out this evening and the bird hadn't come back yet. Maybe the shovel did the trick?

We had an owl out by the pond. It didn't do a damn thing. But then we were trying to scare away the crows so it might work on little birds.

Went out there again today and the bastards had about three or four new nests under construction in the rafters. I took great pleasure in knocking down all of their materials. i think if I do this on a daily basis maybe they will give up. Soon it will be time for them to lay eggs and so they will want a more stable place.
I read on the internet that garlic cloves work as well....
The crows around the pond...do they try to get the fish in there?

I don't think the crows ever tried to eat the fish. I think J just didn't want them around the pond. We have a heron (as we all know) that should be making an appearance here soon. Hopefully he has found other ponds to fish in because I don't want to deal with the chaos he brings with him. Don't you have a bunch of trees in your yard? Why don't the birds hang out there. Maybe put up a few birdhouses? It could your random act of kindness.

We just went to a Farmer's market on the weekend and saw abunch of homemade birdhouses and Kris mentioned getting one to see if it helped, only we passed on by them because next to that booth was a booth that was selling organic doggie treats and I got interested in that.
All the bird houses there had small holes/doors and I am worried that the fat robins around here won't fit in them.

We had a wicked wind storm here yesterday. I heard a ruckus coming from the side deck and when I looked it resembled that scene from Poltergeist where all the kitchen chairs are piled up. All the deck chairs were stacked haphazardly ontop of the recycling bins. My garbage can lids kept trying to fly away as well.
They are calling for 23 here on Saturday and Sunday. Can't wait!

Wow, that's quite the windstorm. We get pretty good wind here. Things are always moving around and getting knocked over. And we have some pretty big trees around the house and I am always worried they might come crashing down. I love the wind though, I love going out in it. We have gorgeous weather right now. I think the high for today is going to be 18-20. Not as warm as you but we're catching up. ;D

I have seen pics of your crazy windstorms and they beat out the one we had yesterday that's for sure.
It's not warm here today, it's around 11 or so and we have had only a day or two of decent weather. I would be thrilled with the 18-20!

It was still cool in the shade but it's gorgeous today. I had a bit of a fever yesterday too so maybe it wasn't that cold at all and it was just me. ;D
