Are you guys worried about it at all? There is so much media about it, good and bad. I don't know what to think. My other half is 110% against any sort of vaccine because it hasn't been thoroughly tested, the preschool is thinking it's going to hit hard. I'm not sure if I should be more worried about it than I am. Kinda worried about it, kinda not.

I have days where I worry about it and others that I don't. The media makes a big deal of it but I know that you can't do much to stop from getting it. I wash my hands all the time. I have those lysol wipes about every 10 feet and I think this year I am going to get the flu shot and maybe be extra viligant about making sure the kids stay home if they are sick. Other than that I can't do much. My sister is all freaked out about it but doesn't immunize her kids at all againt anything which I don't get......the kids school is threatening to boot them if they don't get their needles. I know that the summer camps around here this summer where having to send kids home and close up camp because of the H1N1 virus.....

Same with me. Some days I think about it and others it just rolls off my back. The way I think is that Em rarely gets sick...she rarely ever gets the regular flu so hopefully she can turn her back to this one too. And that's even IF it hits the school. I think there are a lot of "ifs" out there.

Yes, you have a good point...ALOT of 'if's'. Do you guys usually get the flu shot? My Dad swears by it but the few years I got it done didn't do much for me.

I had the flu shot once and I was sicker that year than any other year. We've always gotten Em's because she was prone to throat infections when she was little. We didn't get hers this year because the hubby is mostly against things like that. She hasn't been sick too much this year without it. But I do think this year I will get Em's again. J said he was going to get one this year after everything that happened in February but he's reconsidering it now that he's alright. He says he's going to get the doctors opinion about it.

I don't think we'll be getting the vaccine for the swine flu either. It hasn't been properly tested. Who knows what it could to you 5 years down the road.

In a way you are screwed if you do and screwed if you don't. If we win lotto 6/49 we are just going to move out to the cottage for the winter and there is no one around. We can avoid the bug altogether. Hopefully we will win soon so I can start packing.

Now they are saying that the regular flu shot could make you more susceptible to the swine flu. As much as I think there is way too much hype about this, I'm still a little worried about it. If it hits us like a normal flu then that's fine. I just have to keep in mind that thousands of people die from the regular flu too.

I never think of the fact that people die of the regular flu as well. If you are healthy and young then you have a better chance of surviving the flu.

I heard something about that. My friend's friend was all excited because they were going to do a meet and greet thing here or something and had to cancel. When I was in the ER friday night a girl came in and they put a mask on her right away and made her sit in the waiting room like 4 seats away from me. I don't think I breathed that entire 2 minutes she was sitting there until they took her into a room. A room which just happened to be right beside my mom's room. Even though it was a seperate room completely with walls and a door and I was paranoid. LOL!!

It's always nice to hear that at my age and being healthy and eating well that I am likely to get uber sick from it. Makes me want to give up and eat burgers and fries and sleep in rather than run.....what are their reasons for saying that our age group is susceptible?

what are their reasons for saying that our age group is susceptible? Because they need something to write in the paper about it. I don't know the numbers but supposedly the most affected have been women between the ages of 30-35. That's what my newspaper tells me but they also change who it affects the most on a daily basis. I don't know what to believe anymore.
